How to Save Images as PDF on iPhone (No Apps Required)

3 min read

You have just taken a picture of a document, receipt, or homework assignment. Now you need to upload it, but the website only accepts PDF.

You might think you need to download a "Scanner App" full of ads and subscriptions. You don't. Your iPhone has this feature built-in, but apple hides it well.

Method 1: The "Print" Trick

This is the oldest trick in the book, and it still works perfectly.

  1. Open the Photos app and select your image.
  2. Tap the Share button (the square with the arrow).
  3. Scroll down and tap Print.
  4. Here is the secret: When the print preview appears, pinch outwards (zoom in) on the preview image.
  5. It will instantly transform into a PDF. Tap the Share icon again and save it to "Files".

Method 2: The "Files" App

If you have multiple photos, this method is cleaner.

  1. Select all your photos in the Photos app.
  2. Tap Share > Save to Files.
  3. Open the Files app.
  4. Tap the three dots (...) in the top right > Select.
  5. Select your images, then tap the three dots (bottom right) > Create PDF.

iOS will merge them all into a single PDF document instantly.

Method 3: The Fastest Way (For Desktop Sharing)

If you are on your computer and need to combine iPhone photos into a PDF, just AirDrop them to yourself and drag them into LocalImageConverter. We will merge them into a single PDF respecting the original quality settings.
