Smart TVs are great for sliding shows, but they are often surprisingly dumb when it comes to file formats. You plug in your USB drive full of vacation photos, and half of them show a broken image icon saying "File Format Not Supported".
The Likely Suspects
- HEIC: Most TVs (Samsung, LG, Sony) do not support Apple's HEIC format.
- WebP: While great for the web, older TV firmware doesn't recognize it.
- CMYK Color Profile: If you accidentally used a "Print" color profile, the TV can't display it.
The Solution
TVs love standards. They want a basic, standard JPG.
- Convert all HEIC/WebP images to JPG.
- Ensure they are in "sRGB" color mode (standard for screens).
- Keep the resolution reasonable (4K is 3840x2160; anything larger is wasted pixels).
