Google's Ultra HDR format embeds a gain map into the standard JPG. While this looks amazing on the Pixel's screen, standard monitors might display the colors as "washed out" or "weirdly bright".
To fix this for standard viewing, running the image through a converter can strip the HDR gain map and produce a standard (SDR) JPG that looks correct on all screens.
