Best Format for Printing Photos (Poster Quality)

Sending a photo to a professional lab? Do not email a JPG. Follow these steps for gallery-quality prints.

1

300 DPI Rule

Ensure your image resolution equates to 300 Pixels Per Inch. For an 8x10 print, you need 2400x3000 pixels.

2

Use TIFF

Save as **TIFF** (LZW Compression). This ensures no artifacts appear when the ink hits the paper.

3

CMYK vs RGB

Ask your printer. Most modern inkjet labs prefer **sRGB** files. Offset press printers need **CMYK**.
